Scottt McTominay sold Napoli alternative at Real Madrid with Mourinho

McTominay has been a revelation since quitting Old Trafford for Napoli, transforming himself into a title-winning star in Italy and becoming one of the continent's hottest properties. The Scotland ace has already been linked with a string of elite clubs and Saha reckons the biggest of the lot should be taking notice.

McTominay's current contract with the Naples side runs until 2028 but he's been locked in talks with an extension to take him until 2030 in recent months.

The ex-United frontman believes McTominay is ready for the Bernabeu and insists he has the quality to thrive among football's galacticos after taking his game to another level in Serie A.

Saha said: "Scott McTominay leaving Manchester United is in the past, but he's a terrific player who wasn't fully appreciated there.

"United failed to maximize his potential, which has been a recurring mistake for the club down the years.

"He has the calibre to play anywhere, including Real Madrid, and pairing him with Jude Bellingham would be fascinating.

"They share similar dynamic profiles, and McTominay has proven his value at the highest level, it would be great for Scotland also."

A move to Madrid could also hand Jose Mourinho a huge boost. The Portuguese boss famously gave McTominay his first-team breakthrough at Manchester United and has long been one of the midfielder's biggest admirers.

Saha believes a reunion between the pair would be a perfect fit, with McTominay's energy, goals and leadership making him a dream signing for any manager chasing major honours.

The Scotland international has become a fans' favourite in Naples after flourishing away from the shadow of Old Trafford. And while Premier League clubs continue to monitor his situation, Saha reckons McTominay should keep aiming for the very top.
