The Premier Division clash saw Everett travel to Harpenden for the second time in just over a fortnight, coming away with what they called "a well-deserved point."
A spokesperson for Everett Rovers said: "A point away against the team that are now on top of the Premier Division is certainly a positive thing to take from the match, and to have taken the lead twice shows that scoring at this level is not a problem."
Everett made a strong start, going ahead within five minutes when Harley Sells skipped over a challenge and fired a left-footed shot from outside the box, beating Harpenden keeper Connor Freeman.
The goal was Sells’ 13th in 15 matches, moving him to fourth in the Premier Division goalscoring table. Harpenden responded in the 14th minute.
A right-wing cross from Charlie Smith found James Towell unmarked in the box, and he headed past Ibbi Rashid to level the score.
Everett regained the lead through Johnny O’Sullivan, who rose above the defence to head in a deep cross. But once again, Harpenden drew level. A cross from Towell was met by Henry Jones, who beat his marker to head past Rashid and make it 2-2.
The second half saw both teams create chances, with Everett’s Max Drayton testing the defence and Harpenden pressing for a winner.
Rashid made several key saves to keep Everett in the game, including a low stop from Josh Codling and a crucial block with his leg to deny Mehdi Mayah.
Harpenden substitute Oliver Webdale crossed for Jon Clements, whose diving header went wide. Sells nearly snatched victory for Everett in the closing minutes with a free kick, but his effort dipped just over the bar.
Elsewhere, Everett Rovers Reserves advanced to the third round of the Herts Centenary Trophy with a 4-1 win over Royston Town Reserves.
Brandon Bernhauser opened the scoring from the penalty spot, though Royston equalised before half-time.
In the second half, Everett took control. Charlie Bradshaw, Temi Animashaun, and Jordan Standley all found the net to seal a convincing victory.
The reserves now join Belstone/Bovingdon, Hoddesdon Town, and Oxhey Jets in the next round.
Everett’s first team will look to build on their strong away performance as the Premier Division campaign continues. Harpenden Town, meanwhile, remain unbeaten in 11 league and cup games over 90 minutes and now sit at the top of the table.
The hard-fought point underlines Everett’s ability to compete with the division’s best, while their reserves continue to make progress in cup competition.
