Cristiano Ronaldo has been suspended for 30 days by the Portuguese FA and fined a three-figure sum for walking out on the national team during the last round of international games.
The 41-year-old clashed with new head coach Jorge Jesus and the federation undertook disciplinary actions. He has been fined a minimal amount of €255 (£214) and hit with a ban.
It is unclear whether his suspension will cover Portugal’s next set of fixtures in the Nations League, beginning against Denmark on November 14. The disciplinary council did not specify whether time already served under a provisional suspension would count towards the 30-day sanction.
Three weeks ago Ronaldo left Portugal camp in Copenhagen before they played Denmark. The veteran striker, who chose to remain playing after the World Cup despite considering retirement, accused Jesus of twice breaking his word about his role in the team.

He was an unused substitute against Norway and that seemed to ignite the row. Ronaldo later apologised for failing to acknowledge supporters after the Norway match and for leaving his teammates, and was prepared to serve any punishment that came his way.
The Al-Nassr forward was provisionally suspended on 9 October but is the most capped men’s footballer of all time having played 234 times for Portugal. Portuguese FA president Pedro Proenca said that everyone within the federation wanted Ronaldo to return to the team once the matter was resolved.
Jesus won all four of the recent games to begin his reign having taken over following Portugal's World Cup exit, which was almost certainly Ronaldo's final outing at a major tournament.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid also maintained that, despite his obvious differences with the new coach, he would play again for Portugal.
"I have heard a lot about farewell matches, that I deserve a dignified farewell and that the [FPF] wants to give me that opportunity," he said. "I can promise all my fans, and especially all Portuguese people, that we will have one or more farewell matches. There will be time for that."
