Clevedon beat Wells 39-0 in Counties 2 rugby match

Clevedon dominated this match from start to finish and ended deserved winners.

However, they failed to capitalise on some clear-cut chances with the line beckoning.

The Wells defence had a great deal to do with that as they harried Clevedon into uncharacteristic errors.

When Wells did attack and threaten, Clevedon's resolute defence kept them at bay, clearing their lines with some fine out-of-hand kicking.

A spectacular 50-22 downhill was the highlight.

Seven tries to nil was a good result down in the heart of Somerset with Clevedon playing the best of their rugby uphill in the first half.

The second half was more of a challenge as Wells rallied but ultimately fell short in their quest.

With the sun and warmth disappearing during the second half, the older travelling faithful were relieved to get into the clubhouse for a celebratory cocoa or two.

The MOTM went to back row Lewis O'Brien for his non-stop efforts throughout the match.

Next week, the firsts are at home to Avon for a 3pm kick-off.
