With East Cowes Vics's fixture postponed, the two teams travelled across the Solent to take on Aldermaston and Downtown.
AFC ALDERMASTON 2 - 1 NEWPORT FC
Newport travelled to Waterside Park with a point to prove, given they had come a cropper at the ground several times.
A bright start led to a lead through a Conor KELLY strike from a flowing counter-attack.
However, unforced errors and lost duels led to an Aldermaston equaliser, beating Leon Pitman from a tight angle.
A second half followed that did not match the first, as free-kicks flew over the bar.
Resolute defending did not pay off, as Port conceded a penalty after Jack Egerton Read caught an attacker's foot.
An equaliser didn't come and Waterside Park remains an unconquered fortress for the Islanders - next time, perhaps.
DOWNTOWN 7 - 2 COWES SPORTS
The Yachtsmen capsized in their league match, unable to stem the flow of goals as they travelled away to Downtown.
The hosts claimed two goals before Cowes clawed one back through the prolific John MCKIE, before the Islanders conceded two more.
Fortunes didn't change in the second half, as another MCKIE effort only served to increase his personal tally and not turn the tide of the game.
A further three goals from Downtown sealed the drubbing.
