Terry Bradshaw believes Fox will want to replace him after Super Bowl 2029
NFL icon Terry Bradshaw believes Fox will replace him after the network broadcasts the Super Bowl in 2029, regardless of how well he's performing on the air. The legendary former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, 78, has been a mainstay on TV screens since he retired in 1984 and has been with Fox since 1994, appearing weekly on its flagship Fox NFL Sunday show. But after a growing number of on-air mistakes in recent years there have been increased calls from viewers for him to be replaced by a fresh face. However, Fox ignored those calls by recently tying Bradshaw, a four-time Super Bowl champion, to a new two-year contract extension.

Bradshaw discusses his future at Fox

But Bradshaw has admitted in an interview with Men's Health he thinks Fox will move him on once his contract expires after the Super Bowl in Las Vegas in February 2029. 'I am totally confident on the air, absolutely,' Bradshaw said. 'Supremely confident … I'm going through now what everybody that's in their 70s goes through. 'I'm 78. I just signed a two-year extension, and I'm pretty sure no matter how well I perform over the next two years, they're going to want to replace me.' He continued: 'I'm not going to announce my retirement, because in two years when we do the Super Bowl, after my contract is expiring, I don't want anybody to do a tribute. 'So I'm never going to say I'm going to retire. Because, look, they may say, "Hey, you're still doing a good job. We'll sign you for another year." That could easily happen. They're [expletive] into the wind if they think I'm gonna tell them I'm retiring.'

Bradshaw opens up about his mental health struggles

Bradshaw recently opened up on his difficulties with depression and anxiety attacks in his new book. He describes in 'Looking for Terry' that he had undiagnosed ADHD and later suffered with crippling anxiety attacks. Bradshaw also endured volatile emotional highs and lows throughout his NFL career. But, speaking to People, he admits 'you didn't talk about it' in NFL locker rooms. Bradshaw was diagnosed with depression in the late '90s after his retirement from football. 'It is an ugly disease,' Bradshaw continued.

Bradshaw praises wife Tammy for her support

He also praised his wife Tammy for helping him through his difficult days. 'She just gets me out of it. She gets my mind off of it. She frees me up,' Bradshaw explained. 'We do something. We talk about it.' 'I may be emotional about it, but I'm totally comfortable with telling her,' he continued. 'Men think that's a weakness. I got past it being a weakness. It's a sickness. There's nothing wrong with admitting you've got issues.'
