After deciding late that he wanted a career in sports journalism, Daniel worked his way up the ladder in an unconventional manner.

Having opted against university, Daniel worked with Sky Sports as a freelance contributor and translator during transfer windows while also volunteering on several other blog pages and outlets to get a portfolio of content together.

Daniel then worked with Barnet FC as part of their social media team before starting his own website, which focused on football and MMA content.

That eventually led to work with 90min and Reach PLC with The Mirror, Daily Record, Daily Express, and Manchester Evening News.

Following that, Daniel spent two-and-a-half years with Breaking Media covering Everton, Rangers, Leeds, West Ham and other clubs before joining GiveMeSport as a Premier League editor.

As well as football, Daniel is a huge MMA fan and has appeared on YouTube and podcast content too.

Manchester City were thrashed at home by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League on Wednesday night, as they suffered their first defeat of the campaign.

Desire Doue gave the visitors the lead with a long-range effort after just 13 minutes, before he assisted Ousmane Dembele just two minutes later to double the lead. Portuguese maestro Vitinha added a third just after the half-hour mark to mark their dominance.

City made three changes at half-time, and substitute Iliman Ndiaye set up Erling Haaland for a fine header to pull one back. Maghnes Akliouche hit a curler from the edge of the box that Donnarumma saved, only for the ball to bounce into the net to make it 4-1. Haaland got a second to make it 4-2 with around 15 minutes left, but PSG held on for all three points, despite Ferran Torres missing a late penalty.

City Defence Awful

Gianluigi Donnarumma - D

The goalkeeper was taking on his former club and should have done better for the opening goal, with Doue beating him from long range at his near post. But he couldn't do anything about the second or third goal, but made a huge howler for the fourth goal. Made small amends by saving a late penalty.

Abdukhodir Khusanov - C

The youngster started at right-back and struggled in the first-half, but in the second half he went to centre-back and was very composed, showing his huge potential.

Ruben Dias - E

The captain had a horror showing in the first half and was substituted at half-time as a result. He couldn't get to grips with the movement of the PSG attack, and his passing was abysmal in the build up.

Marc Guehi - D

Guehi had a good international break with England and played well against Liverpool, but in this game he looked all over the place for much of the first half, especially. In the second half, he was more dominant as City tried to put together a comeback, but they ultimately fell short.

Josko Gvardiol - D

Gvardiol was more useful to City in attack than defence in this game, as the Croatian proved to be a major threat in the opposition penalty area at set pieces. At the back, the PSG attack had a great game, floating around the pitch and causing problems for all their opponents.

Enzo Fernandez - C

The £125m man was used in his usual deeper role and while he struggled initially against the PSG midfield, he helped take over the game in the second half and was one of City's top performers despite the defeat.

Elliot Anderson - C

Anderson has been one of the top performers all season and after really struggling in the first half, the England star took over in the second half and was arguably the best player on the pitch, but couldn't help City to complete the comeback.

Jeremy Doku - C

After his excellent substitute appearance against Liverpool, Doku was handed a start in this game and was direct against Achraf Hakimi, and was arguably their only spark in the first half. But Maresca opted to take him off at half-time, limiting his impact.

Rayan Cherki - F

Cherki had a point to prove in this game against the side from his homeland, but he turned in one of the worst performances of his time in a light blue shirt. Nothing went right for him, he struggled to create anything, and was ultimately hooked at half-time as a result.

Antoine Semenyo - C

Semenyo was playing for Bournemouth 12 months ago, but his performance in this game showed that he belongs at this level. He was a constant threat on the wing, using his shooting with both feet to cause problems, and should have scored at least once with the chances he had.

Erling Haaland - A

Despite the defeat, there is no doubting that Haaland is City's best and most important player. He scored two brilliant goals, and could arguably have had two more but for an inspired performance by Matvei Safonov in the PSG goal

Substitutes Shine for Man City

Ayyoub Bouaddi - B

Summer signing Bouaddi came on at half-time as City looked to get back into the game, and immediately offered composure and quality in the heart of the side to gain control and turn the tide. A top performance from the teenager.

Iliman Ndiaye - B

The winger came on at half-time and made an immediate impact, running at the defence and creating lots of chances for the attack to try and get the team back in the game. Probably his best performance since joining from Everton in the summer.

Matheus Nunes - C

With Dias struggling in defence, Maresca brought Nunes on at full-back and the Portugal international offered energy and attacking output down the flank. Almost created a goal for Haaland, but then conceded a penalty late on with a reckless challenge on Nuno Mendes.
