Everton have dropped Jack Grealish for their Carabao Cup game against Newcastle United after he reportedly breached club discipline by missing a training session.
Ahead of Thursday's fourth-round clash at the Hill Dickinson, Everton confirmed in a statement on their official website that Grealish was unavailable for selection due to a breach of club discipline.
No official explanation of the breach has been provided by the club, but a report from The Independent suggests he skipped training when he was not authorised to do so.
Grealish, who is on loan at Everton from Manchester City for the second time, missed Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Arsenal because of illness.
The 31-year-old started Everton's previous three Premier League matches against Ipswich, Hull City and Chelsea, and was expected to be in contention for this week's fixture with Newcastle.
Taking to social media on Thursday, Everton wrote: “Jarrad Branthwaite remains sidelined for a second successive game due to concussion protocols, while Jack Grealish is unavailable for selection due to a breach of club discipline.”
As mentioned above, Grealish rejoined Everton on a season-long loan from Manchester City for the 2026-27 season. He made 20 league appearances for the Toffees last season, notching six assists and two goals.
"It feels so good. I'm so happy. I think I'm at my best at everything in life, not just football, when I feel loved," Grealish told Everton TV after his move was made official.
"That's what the manager has given me, what my teammates have given me and especially what the fans have given me.
"Every time I see an Everton fan, it's just pure love and the way they've welcomed me since that first game against Leeds, I'll never forget that. It means a lot to me and hopefully I've made a few Everton fans happy," he added.
Grealish has made eight appearances for Everton so far this season. It is unclear if he will be available for their Premier League clash against Newcastle on Monday (November 2).
