Patrick Mahomes can break NFL record set by Peyton Manning in Week 9

Superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes can break an NFL record during the Kansas City Chiefs' Week 9 matchup against the New York Jets.

According to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, Mahomes is just three scores away from leapfrogging former Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos signal-caller Peyton Manning for the distinction of having the most passing touchdowns among all quarterbacks in their first 10 seasons in the NFL.

Mahomes is currently playing in his tenth season and will almost certainly surpass Manning in this impressive category during the back half of Kansas City's 2026 schedule.

While the Chiefs' offense struggled during Kansas City's two-game losing streak in Weeks 7 and 8, Mahomes put together a brilliant performance during the team's defeat at the hands of the Denver Broncos on November 1.

In the 28-24 loss, Mahomes completed 30 of his 41 pass attempts for 321 yards and three touchdowns — a stat line that would be enough to propel him past Manning in the NFL record books, if he were to equal or surpass it against the Jets in Week 9.
