Shadman Islam, the Bangladesh opener, has been ruled out of the upcoming South Africa tour due to an ankle injury. Shadman twisted his ankle on the second day of the second Test against West Indies in Sylhet.
“He (Shadman) is ruled out from the South Africa tour,” a member of the selection panel told Cricbuzz. “As far as my knowledge is concerned, he suffered a tear while there is a possibility of a fracture as well."
It is understood that Bangladesh will bat with one man short against West Indies in the ongoing second Test at Sylhet. Meanwhile, Cricbuzz understands in-form Mymensing’s opener Mahfizul Islam Robin is all set to be picked for the Test squad for the South Africa tour. Mahfizul is currently in Sylhet with the Test squad and he was working hard with the national coaches in the nets to prepare.
Bangladesh will depart from Dhaka on November 10 for South Africa to play a two-match Test series which will be followed by three ODIs and as many T20Is. The first Test will be held at the Wanderers Stadium from November 15 to 19, followed by the second Test at SuperSport Park from November 23 to 27.
