Kvistgaarden reflects on key City contribution at Charlton

After a bright cameo in defeat to Portsmouth last Saturday, Clement handed him the chance to spearhead an attack that carried considerably more punch than in recent weeks.

For Kvistgaarden, it was an afternoon that strengthened his claim for further opportunities. His contribution came at a point when Norwich desperately needed greater cutting edge from their attacking players.

The Dane netted his fourth goal of the campaign after setting up Paris Maghoma for City's equaliser. When it came to his own goal, however, Kvistgaarden was quick to shift much of the credit towards an unlikely provider.

"I was just surprised that it was Ruairi making the cross. I've seen actually a right centre-back do a cross from the left side. I don't think I've seen that before," Kvistgaarden told the Pink Un.

"Ruairi is a fantastic player. But of course, I didn't see that as one of his strong sides to put a cross like that. It was a wonderful cross and I just have to put it in.

"So I think, yes, it's my goal, but I think it's probably 80pc Ruairi's goal. To be honest, I really feel safe in those situations. That's probably one of the finishes I like the most."

Maghoma’s equaliser was one of the moments of the afternoon, although the muted nature of his celebration prompted plenty of discussion afterwards.

Kvistgaarden, who supplied the pass for the goal, was reluctant to speak on his team-mate’s behalf but felt the reaction reflected City’s determination to remain focused on completing the turnaround.

"I think that you have to talk with Paris about that one. I can't talk for him in that one. But I think it was like a sign that we can do this and we keep going and stay focused," he said.

"It was a pass that I'm happy with. I'm happy with the quality of it. But I still think you need to give a lot of credit for Paris because it's a very, very tight angle he's doing a finish from.

"So one thing is the pass, but the finish is even more wonderful."
