Red Bull's Max Verstappen took his second win in a row with a dominant weekend in Singapore, while Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli took a giant step towards becoming the youngest ever F1 World Champion, but what are the other big talking points following the race around Marina Bay?

It’s been a tough season for the four-time world champion, but finally both Verstappen and Red Bull are beginning to see the true potential of the Red Bull Ford Powertrains engine.

Winning the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia last weekend was a big milestone; not only did the Dutchman win a race for the 11th season in a row, but it was also the first with the Red Bull PT engine.

Singapore was always going to be a different test, though, especially for Verstappen, who had Marina Bay as one of two tracks on the 2026 calendar that he hadn’t won at (Monaco being the other).

No one could get close to Verstappen across the race weekend, though, with pole in the Sprint, which he converted to victory, before repeating the same feat when it came to the Grand Prix.

Verstappen’s first win in Singapore was also the seventh different winner in the last seven races around the track, while on a more personal note, his 73rd career win moved him ahead of Michael Schumacher for wins with a single team, and only behind Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes.

Kimi Antonelli’s first shot at becoming the youngest F1 World Champion will come at the Lone Star State of Texas next time out.

With George Russell beginning at the back of the grid due to engine penalties, it was always going to be a weekend where Antonelli gained if he kept things clean.

The Italian finished fourth in the Sprint, gaining six points on his teammate after Russell crashed out from the lead on lap 2.

Antonelli had to bide his time in the Grand Prix, but a 14th podium of the 2026 season has him on the cusp of becoming world champion.

The permutations in Austin

150 points remain, and Antonelli leads Russell by 102, assuming both the Qatar and Abu Dhabi Grands Prix go ahead, despite no official confirmation.

To win the title in Austin, Antonelli must win the Grand Prix; that is the most important factor in the permutations, and he must increase his lead by 23 points.

Mathematically, six drivers can still be champion: both Mercedes drivers, the Ferrari pair of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen, and current world champion Lando Norris. Russell and Hamilton are the two that matter most, though.

Russell must finish ninth or lower at the Circuit of the Americas, while Lewis Hamilton must be fifth or lower.
