76ers-Knicks Sets Opening Night Record With 7.71M Viewers

Tuesday's NBA opening night doubleheader on NBC and Peacock averaged 6.41 million viewers, the most-watched opening night in league history.

The Philadelphia 76ers' 106-100 win over the New York Knicks averaged 7.71 million viewers. It was the most-watched primetime opening night game ever and peaked at 9.1 million viewers at 9:45 p.m. ET.

Philadelphia spoiled ring night for the defending champion Knicks. It was the 76ers' first game since signing LeBron James and trading for Jaylen Brown this offseason.

The second game was a rematch of last season's Western Conference finals as the Oklahoma City Thunder beat the San Antonio Spurs by a final score of 116-104.
