Four points I took from this:

- Why can't we perform like Bournemouth with 8 changes? We treated it like a training game, very disappointing.
- The Carabao Cup, £100,000 prize money, 21 times less than the FA Cup. It needs a total revamp with international breaks and Europe. I have a big affiliation with this one having witnessed previous wins in very different eras, I have trouble parking this.
- Bogarde should have been offloaded in the summer, but I guess no permanent deal could not be agreed. Otherwise we might have ended up in a Guessand scenario. Clubs in for him would rather go for a cheap foreign option.
- According to Emery we successfully employed a "compact" formation we employed was fantasy land. We got completely rinsed down the flanks. We should have fought fire with fire, with some width in my opinion.
