Leicester City defeated Doncaster Rovers 2-1 at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Russell Martin’s side needed a reaction after the 3-1 defeat to Peterborough United, and they certainly delivered a much improved performance.

Leicester were pretty comfortable for most of the game and probably should’ve scored more than two goals to take the game away from Doncaster.

That said, we’ve picked out four of the best comments on TalkingPoints which highlight the main positives from the game.

Leicester City ‘could’ve been 4-0 up’ vs Doncaster Rovers

Leicester had 14 attempts and seven of them were on target, so Sentientsphee felt the hosts could’ve come away with four goals.

The TalkingPoints user also praised Martin for changing his system to five at the back, which nullified the visitors who went into this game off the back of two consecutive wins.

20-70 minutes I thought we played well, couldve been 4-0 up. Started and ended the game pretty poorly but the result is the most important thing. Created loads and the back 5 nullified their attack

Kamari Doyle and John Lundstram praised for ‘unreal finishes’

Tom.procter was impressed by the two goals, as John Lundstram hammered in a left-footed volley from the edge of the area just before half-time.

Kamari Doyle’s second goal was equally as good, as he cut inside onto his right foot and bent a curler into the far corner.

Doyle replaced Bobby De Cordova-Reid in the starting line-up and provided much more quality in the final third.

The Brighton and Hove Albion loanee will surely now retain his place against Bromley, which Tom points out as a must-win game.

Important win. Unreal finishes by Lundstram and Doyle. Simply have to back it up now against Bromley

There is a ‘sense of relief’ after Leicester’s win

Leading up to the Doncaster game, many felt as though Martin should be sacked with the Foxes languishing 17th in League One.

Ultimately, the board decided to stick with the former Southampton manager, and that decision was justified.

Chillout felt a ‘sense of relief’ after the game, and Martin likely would’ve felt the same emotion – with his job a lot safer.

Hopefully City are now able to play with a bit more freedom, and as though a huge weight has been lifted off their shoulders.

A much need win and a sense of relief – it feels a bit strange that a win v Doncaster is now something to shout about.

‘Confidence comes from results’

Sean.fisher wasn’t overly concerned about the poor end to the game, as City had to hold on to their 2-1 lead after Warren O’Hora’s own goal.

The TalkingPoints user stated the result was the most important thing, and there should now be a bit more confidence around Seagrave ahead of Tuesday’s trip to newly-promoted Bromley.

Doesn’t matter how Leicester win atm, they just need to win 😅confidence comes from results

Bromley have suffered four defeats on the bounce in all competitions, including a 2-1 defeat to Brentford’s under-21s, so Martin’s side will be heavily backed to make it consecutive wins for the first time this season.
