While Manchester United might remain at the heart of an infamous crisis, the Red Devils have been handed a timely injury boost ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League showdown against Roma.
Alongside it becoming clear that Michael Carrick’s position at Old Trafford is becoming untenable, United have been dealing with a stacked injury list behind the scenes.
However, while the Premier League strugglers might have confirmed that Slovenian marksman Benjamin Sesko will miss the remainder of 2026 due to an extended shin issue, Patrick Drogu officially returned to Manchester United training on Monday morning.
With Lisandro Martinez shown a dramatic red card during United’s 2-0 loss away at historic rivals Chelsea over the weekend, Carrick has also been unable to call upon defensive stars such as Luke Shaw, Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt due to respective injury issues this season.
Turning their attention back to Champions League action on Tuesday night as they welcomed Italian high-flyers Roma to Old Trafford, Dorgu’s return will certainly offer United somewhat of a boost.
Since sustaining a hamstring injury while away with Denmark during September’s international break, the 22-year-old has missed each of United’s previous six consecutive appearances across all competitions.
However, pictured in United’s first-team training session on Monday morning, the former Lecce youngster could make a first appearance for Carrick’s downbeat squad since a 1-1 draw against Fulham on September 20th.
