Morgan Rogers and Jordan Henderson both started in Chelsea’s 2-0 win against Everton on Saturday.
Rogers has started in all of Chelsea’s Premier League games this season, but this was only Henderson’s third. His second came last weekend in the Blues’ 5-1 victory over Bournemouth, and the midfielder scored twice, including a brilliant free kick.
Henderson was unable to get his name on the scoresheet this time around; however, the Englishman still had a fantastic game. As did Rogers, who was also very effective on the afternoon despite not finding the back of the net.
The 24-year-old reserved some praise for his teammate after the game, lauding him underneath an Instagram post. In response to a picture Henderson uploaded following the full-time whistle, Rogers simply wrote the word: “General”.

After this and Henderson’s previous performance, it would be hard to disagree with Rogers. Henderson may be 36 now, but he certainly is playing like a general.
His passing numbers were excellent, for example. According to Sofascore, he completed 61 out of 68 passes, giving him a pass success rate of 90%.
Before the England international and Moises Caicedo came into the team, the midfield really lacked control. Chelsea’s matches were like NBA games. However, that has now changed, and the Blues were even able to keep a clean sheet, their first since January!
The mood in the Chelsea dressing room seems to be good right now. Henderson spoke about his Chelsea teammates after the Everton win, claiming that there is now a “togetherness”. The bond Henderson is talking about could grow even stronger next weekend.
Chelsea face their fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge. A derby win against Roberto De Zerbi’s side could bring these players even closer together. It is not a game Spurs fans should be looking forward to, especially with their recent record against Chelsea.
