USC grateful for off week amid college football chaos

This weekend marked USC’s first off week of the 2026 season. The Trojans did not play a game on Saturday, freeing up USC fans’ schedules to spend the entire day watching other games.

As it turned out, the Trojans picked a great week to have off. While Lincoln Riley’s team sat at home, there was chaos throughout college football.

Five of the top seven teams in the country lost on Saturday, including both No. 1 and No. 2. Of the 18 teams ranked ahead of USC in last week’s AP Poll, eight fell.

When the updated rankings come out on Sunday, the Trojans are likely to move up a number of spots without doing anything—simply due to all of the chaos around them. Meanwhile, USC fans were able to relax and watch an incredible day of college football without any stress.

The only bad thing about Saturday? Somehow, UCLA is the only undefeated team remaining in either the Big Ten or SEC. But that is a story for another day . . .
