Chelsea and Manchester United had scouts in Ghana this week to rule their eye over the latest generation of talent at the Future Talent Tournament.

The Spanish outlet cover the situation with a look at Real Murcia. They explain that they Spanish side found themselves among European giants scouting the tournament.

Their academy director Pedro Asensio was representing the Spanish side at the tournament this week. He’s there alongside clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Betis.

They explain that Asensio is participating in the Future Talent Tournament in Accra. And that has turned out to be something of an international showcase for scouting young talent.

Murcia in particular have plans in place to scout and target African talent. They want them to either develop and make the leap to professional football or become valuable assets. Their youth system already has several African players making waves.

Some have already made the step up to Murcia’s youth teams in recent years. Or they have gained minutes in the first team.

Chelsea and Manchester United

Now they find themselves rubbing shoulders with the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United in the battle for the next stars coming out of Ghana.

The Spanish outlet makes no mention of any young players that the clubs in attendance could have been there to watch. That is perhaps something we will learn in the coming weeks and months.

The tournament has been busy promoting the scouts, though. In fact, they even posted on Instagram to confirm the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United had been in attendance.

It seems, like the rest of the clubs, they want to get ahead of any potential competition for the game’s potential future stars.
