Aaron Glenn’s Jets again can’t exceed expectations as long list of mistakes add up
New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith (7) reacts after a play against the New England Patriots during the fourth quarter of an NFL football game at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Aaron Glenn was speaking about next week’s Jets game against the winless Dolphins when he summed up life in the NFL.

“We’re going to play a good team,” Glenn said. “To me, every team in this league, I don’t care who they are, any week somebody can beat you. I think we’ve seen that throughout this league, throughout this year that any team can go out there and beat anybody.”

Glenn did not intend this when he made the comment, but it underscores how frustrating it is watching Glenn’s Jets never win games they are not expected to win. The Jets are 2-4 — exactly what you probably thought they would be at the beginning of the year. They have beaten the Titans and Browns, teams expected to be similar to the Jets, and lost to the Packers, Lions, Bears and Patriots, teams viewed as superior to the Jets.

When is the last time the Jets shocked you with a win? 2023 against the Eagles? Since then, it’s been ho hum, play up to or down to expectations.
