Russell Martin reveals what annoyed him in Leicester City's five-star Bromley win

Leicester City were in red-hot form at Bromley on Tuesday night to earn consecutive victories

Russell Martin

Russell Martin has praised his Leicester City players for executing their gameplan in Tuesday night's 4-0 win over Bromley. The Foxes battered the League One strugglers at Hayes Lane to earn back-to-back victories.

City were 3-0 up at half-time thanks to goals from Will Alves, John Lundstram and Luke Thomas. Emil Riis scored his fifth goal for the club in the second half to complete the five-star performance.

The win has moved Martin's men up to 10th in the table, just three points off the play-offs. It was also their third clean sheet of the season, just days after conceding a soft goal in their victory over Doncaster at the weekend.

Martin, who has eased the pressure on himself with the last two results, credited his team for getting the right balance at both ends of the pitch in dismantling Bromley. "I'm really proud of the players and the performance," he said.

"I thought we were really aggressive, but we had a real balance of being really aggressive, but really composed. At times, we had real aggression on Saturday, but not quite the composure we needed to really execute from certain moments.

"My only frustration is we could probably score a bit more earlier and make the game a bit easier for ourselves. We're playing against a team that we've watched lots and they're really hard to play against here.

"It's a really hard place to come and we played really, really well. The most pleasing aspect tonight is we kept a clean sheet and we grew as a team from Saturday. That's all I can keep asking of the players, to keep growing and keep trying to improve."

He added: "I really liked the way we managed the game. We kept moving the ball. I think there was a five-minute spell just before half-time where, and it's my job to be miserable and be demanding of the players, I was annoyed with it. I felt we got a little bit complacent, took too many touches, but then the lads got straight back on it in the second half and we were fantastic."
