If there's one team that New England Patriots edge rusher Dre'Mont Jones didn't like growing up, it would be the Green Bay Packers.
And fortunately for Jones, he will have a chance to do something about those feelings when the Packers travel to Foxborough to face the Patriots in Week 9.
“Me personally, I don’t like the Packers, man," Jones admitted when speaking with media members this week. "Growing up I ain’t like ‘em. So, there’s no extra boost. I already got boost when I’m out there. Playing football gives me the boost. I wanna play the Packers, I wanna beat the Packers. I wanna try my best to disrupt the quarterback.”
When healthy, the Patriots have one of the best secondary units in the NFL.
However, it will be a tall task to expect those guys to cover Christian Watson and Matthew Golden for an extended period of time. One of the keys to the game will be the ability of the Patriots' defensive front, including Jones, to generate pressure and disrupt Packers quarterback Jordan Love's rhythm in the pocket.
If they can create issues in the offensive backfield, they will create opportunities for their defensive backs to make plays in the game.
Along with Jones, Patriots' second-year edge rusher Elijah Ponder and rookie Gabe Jacas, along with defensive tackles Milton Williams, Cory Durden and Christian Barmore will all be counted on to wreak enough havoc to give the Patriots a fighting chance.
