Peterborough United manager Robbie Savage could come up against his own son in the first round proper of the FA Cup.

Posh have been drawn at home to League One rivals Reading, a club that boasts Charlie Savage in their playing squad. Savage junior (23) has not started a League One game for ‘The Royals’ this season, but he has appeared off the bench on seven occasions, including in last Saturday’s shock 1-0 loss at bottom club Wigan Athletic.

Like his father, Charlie Savage came through the Manchester United Academy before signing for Reading in July 2023. He has played 154 times for his current club, scoring 14 times. He scored against Posh in a 3-1 Reading win in a League One fixture at the Select Car Leasing Stadium in the 2024-25 season.

Posh have only been drawn against Reading in the FA Cup on previous occasion. It finished 0-0 in a second round tie at London Road in 1991 with Reading winning the replay 1-0.

There is an excellent first round tie awaiting Spalding United if they can win their fourth qualifying replay at Alvechurch Town on Tuesday. The winners will travel to League One side Plymouth Argyle.

The ties will take place between November 6-10.
