Lamar Jackson needs surgery, headed for injured reserve

Updating a previous report, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (thumb) requires surgery to repair the right thumb injury he suffered in Week 8 against the Buffalo Bills, and he will be placed on the reserve/injured list. He was spotted on the telecast returning to the sideline in the second half with a hard, black cast on his right arm.

Jackson was injured on the first play of the game, banging his thumb on the helmet of a defensive player. He was immediately ruled out, replaced briefly by quarterback Tyler Huntley (toe), who also left the game early. Undrafted free-agent rookie quarterback Joe Fagnano was 10 of 21 for 91 yards, no touchdowns and an interception in his first meaningful action.
