Through Week 8 of the 2026 college football season, the race for the SEC title game is wide open. There are two teams with just one loss in conference play, and there are eight teams with two losses. Midway through the season, 10 teams are still in the mix for a spot in what is expected to be the final SEC championship game.
To everyone's surprise, the Kentucky Wildcats lead the standings at 5-1 in conference play. Georgia trails the Wildcats by a half game at 4-1 in league play.
Despite how the season has started, the Oklahoma Sooners still have an outside shot at making the title game. They have to run the table to make it to Atlanta, but it's possible if they get a little help from around the league.
Here's a look at the SEC standings after the weekend's action.
