The Minnesota Timberwolves are 7-3 and riding a three-game win streak into Sunday’s home game against the Utah Jazz. Even more impressive, they’ve won all three games without Anthony Edwards, who they’ll be without until at least January.

Other than Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo, who’s also out indefinitely, the Wolves have mostly avoided major injuries. They did have an injury scare during Friday’s win in New Orleans, though, involving second-year big man Joan Beringer.

Timberwolves big man suffers broken nose

The injury happened early in the second quarter, when Beringer took an elbow to the face while grabbing an offensive rebound. We later found it was a broken nose. Before Rudy Gobert checked in for him, though, he made both free throws with blood rolling down his mustache.

Beringer was on the floor for just seven minutes in the Wolves’ win, finishing with 2 points, 3 rebounds and a block. On Saturday, the Wolves listed Beringer as questionable for Sunday’s game against Utah, with “Nasal Fracture/Face Mask” as the reason.

Joan Beringer available for the Wolves, despite injury

But when the Timberwolves updated their status report Sunday morning, Beringer moved from questionable to available. As expected, he will wear a face mask.

Beringer was already wearing the mask at shootaround this morning, per Jack Azoulay-Haron (ClutchPoints). The Wolves did not say how many minutes he will play.

Beringer’s growing role in Minnesota

Minnesota drafted Beringer 17th overall in 2025. He is 19 years old and turns 20 on Wednesday, and he has become a regular part of the rotation in his second season.

Through 10 games this season, Beringer is averaging 5.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 0.8 blocks in 16.5 minutes per game while shooting 57.5% from the field. More than half of those rebounds (3.3 per game) have come on the offensive glass.

That is a big jump from his rookie year, when he averaged 3.9 points and 2.3 rebounds in 7.9 minutes across 40 games. His only start this season came Oct. 31 in San Antonio, where he played 34 minutes and had 12 points and 6 rebounds.

The Wolves also picked up his team option on Oct. 30. He is making $4,411,200 this season.
