Strathspey Thistle have added yet more experience to their squad with the arrival of Brazilian Matheus Machado on loan from Elgin City.
The signing of the 25 year old was announced yesterday and will add much needed depth after the Grantown club could only muster 13 outfield players for their 2-2 draw away to Fraserburgh on Saturday.
Machado can play either central midfielder or on the wing and came through the ranks at 2017 Palmeiras and Red Bull Brasil before joining Inverness Caley Thistle’s youth set-up in the 2017-18 season and making his one lone appearance the following season.
Stints followed at Rothes where he scored five goals in 16 appearances before making the move to Montrose where he played 78 times in three seasons.
He made a return to Elgin City for this season.
Manager Aaron Doran said: “Matheus is a fantastic signing for the club. He has played a lot of games in League One.
“He’s had a lot of interest so we’re delighted he chose us. I know him well from our time together at Inverness. I was in the first team when he was coming through the youth ranks and he actually came on for me as a sub in one of the games.
“His experience and quality will be a huge boost to the team. He’s a tricky player who is good on the ball and has the ability to unlock defences as he has a real eye for a pass.”
