Marcus Rashford is injured and yet to record a goal or assist this season, enduring a disappointing start to the season.

Manchester United have a major decision to make about how they rebuild their attacking options ahead of the second half of the season.

Michael Carrick’s side need more threat in the final third, particularly from players expected to deliver goals and create chances.

The club’s recruitment plans will also depend on whether existing squad members can establish themselves as reliable first-team options.

United have already seen how temporary moves can change a player’s confidence and performances away from Old Trafford.

Their recent transfer business has also highlighted the difficulty of finding suitable buyers for players on significant wages.

With January approaching, decisions over the futures of established names could shape the direction of the season.

Everton are reportedly discussing a January move for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, with former Toffees chief executive Keith Wyness suggesting the potential transfer is being taken seriously.

Speaking to Football Insider, Wyness said, “Yes, this is definitely being talked about and quite strongly. And I think that could be an interesting solution,” he said.

He also pointed to Rashford’s previous loan spells as evidence that the move could work, adding, “Rashford did well when he was on loan at Villa and at Barcelona as well.

“I think it could work, and I think being close to where he is in Manchester, just along the M63, could also benefit him greatly as well.”

Marcus Rashford enjoyed a productive spell at Barcelona last season, recording eight league goals and seven assists in 32 appearances, after contributing four goals and five assists during his Aston Villa loan.

However, his return to United has been underwhelming, with the forward yet to register a goal or assist this season.

His immediate priority is recovering from an ongoing hip injury.

Rashford has reportedly resumed gym training at United’s Carrington complex as he works towards returning to action, although his fitness remains an important consideration.

Rashford’s contract runs until 2028, but uncertainty surrounds his longer-term future after last summer’s transfer speculation.

Everton could offer him a fresh start, with Wyness believing a move would suit both parties.

It remains unclear whether Everton would pursue a permanent transfer or a loan.
