Oldham Athletic's Robson on importance of goals and win

The fullback scored his first goal for the club from a set piece in the first half, before completing a 4-1 win over Cheltenham Town in the 81st minute, and a career first brace.

And he is hoping to add more goals to his game as Latics look to kick on and build on a first League Two win in six games.

"It's a fantastic feeling. It's been a long time coming hasn't it?," he smiled.

"I feel I should have had a few more to be honest, so I think it's about time I got a couple and they came in the same game.

"First and foremost clean sheets are a priority for me in a defensive unit, but I need to chip in with some goals - goals and assists are something that I want to do when I've got the opportunity to do it.

"It's the first brace of my career as well so a happy moment for myself."

Robson added it was a happy moment for the team after enduring a tough time in recent weeks.

"It's been tough in spells. When things aren't going your way in football, it is tough. But I feel the experience in the squad, we've got a lot of big characters, big players we all managed to get through that together," the left back added.

"If you strip back the games I think we've played some really good stuff in games, we've been unfortunate in big moments, I would say, we've not taken chances in games.

"We've given not so great goals away, which we all know. Us as players take responsibility for that, we know we could have done better in those moments, but we had to ride the wave, and we have.

"I think it was a fantastic performance from start to finish. I thought we played brilliantly as a team, some very good individual performances.

"I think we cut out some errors that have happened in previous weeks, and I think it goes to show we've got a fantastic squad here. We're on the right track, we're doing the right things and let's hope this can be a turning point for us.

"We've come through it, we've got another win, it's been a good week. We got a win in the cup as well on Tuesday night and now full focus back on to Tuesday (at Walsall) and hopefully we can keep this momentum going."
