Bruno Fernandes has unwittingly become the symbol of everything wrong with Michael Carrick’s Man Utd, and it has come at the cost of one wish fulfilled after five years.
It looks like a matter of when, and not if, Michael Carrick gets sacked by Man Utd, ending a turbulent spell that began from the very first matchday.
Messi and Ronaldo RUINED the Ballon d'Or
It will crash and burn just like Bruno Fernandes, who has come nowhere near matching the heights of last season under the same manager.
Ironically, he’s now getting what he asked for five years earlier, only this time, he won’t like it one bit.
Of all the sackings at Man Utd since Sir Alex Ferguson retired, one of the most infamous and enduring images is that of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s last game.
United lost 4-1 at Watford, and the Norwegian fronted up to the travelling Man Utd fans after the game to apologise for the display.
The fans let him have it brutally, booing him and challenging him, effectively asking for him to be relieved of his duties as Man Utd manager.
United lost the game 3-0… do you still agree with the decision not to give Bruno ANY minutes?
I agree BUT (I live in hope)
Unfortunately I can't see any manager worth his salt would even want to be mentioned for the role. Without clearing all of the backroom staff completely nothing will change. We have 6 defeats coming from our next 6 games. Nothing will change quickly enough to save us from a relegation scrap this season.

Wotcha..... Our first priority(in my mind) is that we must act now and promise the earth to everybody involved at Brighton, inc the manager and all members of his backroom staff, but they must come en-bloc. Of course, we must get rid of RATcliffe and his two numpties first, so I guess the Brighton stuff is our 1st priority AFTER gettin rid of those 3.
Solskjaer took everything on the chin, but in that moment, Fernandes came up from behind him and asked the fans to boo the players instead.
He took responsibility for the team’s performances, pointing towards the team and urging the fans to let it out on the players and appreciate Solskjaer.
That became the enduring image of his time at the club, where the players went into hiding, but Fernandes took the lead towards eroding toxic player culture.
Five years after that happened, Fernandes got his wish, and this time, he was on the receiving end.
The game against Bournemouth looks like it will be Carrick’s last, and once again, an enduring visual emerged where Fernandes got his wish.
As Carrick walked towards the tunnel after the game, the Man Utd fans sang a rendition of his song, and kept it going until he disappeared into the tunnel.
As soon as it happened, the fans switched to loud boos, letting the players know that they back the manager and considered the players a problem.
It’s ironic that at this point, Fernandes personifies the player power culture he sought to erode five years earlier under Solskjaer.
Dropped for the game, Fernandes sulked when arriving for the game, and sported a stony expression throughout United’s misery on the pitch.
He finally got his wish of fans not abusing the manager and putting the responsibility on the players. Only this time, he wouldn’t have liked it.
