SWPL club payments soar 48 per cent amid record figures

The SWPL’s fourth annual accounts revealed total payments to clubs reached £812,000 – an increase of 48 per cent compared to the previous year – with £707,000 distributed through club fee payments, while £105,000 was awarded as prize money via the Sky Sports Cup.

The SWPL’s turnover reached a record £1.4 million, an increase of 28 per cent on the previous year and more than double the turnover achieved in the league’s first season in 2022/23.

The increase has been driven by greater commercial and broadcast income.

SWPL chair Elizabeth Fagan said: “These latest accounts are extremely encouraging and a real credit to work undertaken at SWPL clubs and within the small, dedicated staff at the SWPL.

“These record-breaking figures demonstrate the increasing popularity of the women’s game in Scotland and provide a strong foundation for future growth.”
