Feyenoord and Inter Milan enter Tuesday’s Champions League clash knowing that three points could significantly boost their chances of reaching the knockout stage.
Both former European champions have collected just three points from their opening three league-phase matches and can afford few more slip-ups as the competition approaches its halfway point.

Feyenoord’s Champions League campaign has been a mixed one so far.
The Dutch champions began with a heavy 5-1 defeat to Barcelona before bouncing back with an entertaining 3-2 victory over Como. However, they were unable to build on that success, suffering a narrow 1-0 loss at Real Betis in their most recent European fixture.
Those results leave Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side on three points and under increasing pressure to make their home advantage count.
Recent domestic performances have provided more encouragement. Feyenoord remain among the Eredivisie frontrunners and continue to be exceptionally difficult to beat at De Kuip, where the atmosphere remains one of the most intimidating in European football.
The hosts also possess several dangerous attacking players. Anis Hadj Moussa has emerged as a key threat, while captain Luciano Valente and striker Nacho Ferri continue to provide goals and creativity.
Injury concerns remain relatively manageable, although Bart Nieuwkoop, Jordan Bos and Thomas Beelen are still unavailable. Jeremiah St. Juste faces a late fitness test.
Inter arrive in Rotterdam under pressure after another turbulent week.
Cristian Chivu’s side suffered a painful 3-1 defeat against AC Milan in the Derby della Madonnina, extending a disappointing run in one of Italian football’s biggest fixtures. That result also highlighted some of the defensive issues that have plagued Inter in recent European competitions.
The Nerazzurri’s Champions League campaign has been similarly inconsistent. After defeats to Real Madrid and Club Brugge, they finally collected their first points with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk despite finishing the match with 10 men.
Inter’s recent European record is surprisingly poor for a club that reached the Champions League final in both 2023 and 2025. They have now lost seven of their last nine matches in the competition and remain some way below the standards expected of them.
Captain Lautaro Martinez is unavailable, while Luis Henrique, Benjamin Pavard, John Stones and Curtis Jones are also sidelined. Alessandro Bastoni will miss the game through suspension.
Marcus Thuram is expected to lead the attack, potentially alongside either Pio Esposito or Ange Bonny if they recover fully from recent illness.
This feels like a pivotal fixture for both sides. Feyenoord’s home form and the intense atmosphere at De Kuip make them difficult opponents, particularly for an Inter side arriving with injuries, suspensions and declining confidence.
However, the Italian club still possess considerable quality, especially in attacking areas, and should create plenty of opportunities against a Feyenoord defence that has rarely looked completely secure in Europe.
Expect an open and entertaining contest between two sides who know a draw does little for either. Feyenoord’s home advantage may be enough to avoid defeat, but Inter’s attacking talent should ensure they leave Rotterdam with something.
