Jadon Sancho turns down offer from Madrid side

Former Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho is currently a free agent after parting ways with the club this summer.

Jadon Sancho turns down offer from Madrid side

Jadon Sancho once looked destined to become one of English football’s most prolific attacking talents after making his name in Germany.

His performances for Borussia Dortmund earned him a £73 million move to Manchester United in 2021, with the club expecting him to transform their options out wide.

Instead, his time at Old Trafford became a story of frustration, a public dispute with Erik ten Hag and repeated loan spells away from the club.

A return to Dortmund offered a reminder of what he could produce, while his subsequent spells at Chelsea and Aston Villa brought further twists to an increasingly unsettled career.

Jadon Sancho eventually left United when his contract expired in the summer of 2026, giving him the chance to choose his next destination as a free agent.

At 26, he is now weighing a move that could take his career well beyond European football.

According to Marca, Sancho has rejected the chance to join Getafe after receiving a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia, dealing a blow to the Spanish club’s efforts to sign the former Manchester United winger.

Sancho informed Getafe president Angel Torres that he would not be joining the club, with his representatives now working towards a deal in the Middle East.

Getafe had been keen to strengthen their attacking options at the request of manager Jose Bordalas, who is working with a relatively small squad while competing across multiple competitions.

Sancho reportedly wanted €3 million net for the remainder of the season to agree to the move.

Although Getafe are understood to have offered more than the €400,000 figure initially reported in England, their proposal still fell short of his demands.

Saudi Arabia has become a possible destination for Sancho, with reports indicating that a club there is prepared to meet his financial demands.

Getafe, meanwhile, have had a mixed start to the 2026/27 La Liga season.

They have been trying to improve their attacking depth, and Sancho’s pace and ability to operate on either flank would have offered Bordalas another option.

The Spanish club must now look elsewhere.
