This Saints team, skippered by Duggie Greenall, won the Championship Final by beating Halifax 24-14 in front of 51,083 crowd at a packed Maine Road, Manchester.
It was Saints' first post-war title victory and that triumph made amends for the surprise Wembley defeat earlier that month when they lost to a Peter Ramsden-inspired Huddersfield in the Challenge Cup Final.
With Saints greats such as Glyn Moses, Stan McCormick, Steve Llewellyn, Todder Dickinson, Alan Prescott and George Parsons in the ranks they enjoyed a fantastic year.
This group even managed to beat the touring Australians 26-8 earlier on in the season.
The team and directors are pictured with two magnificent trophies - the old Championship pot and another long-gone pot that Saints managed to win eight times between 1930 and 1969.

Can you name that second cup?
