Dunfermline wait for SFA reply after Allan Oyirwoth injury

The midfielder has been ruled out of this weekend's game with Livingston after suffering concussion at Somerset Park.

Oyirwoth was caught by Nick McAllister, who appeared to lead with his forearm, in a challenge after referee, Dan McFarlane, had blown his whistle.

That upset Lennon and his coaching staff, who are waiting on a response from the Scottish Football Association's refereeing department, who also confirmed the Honest Men's equaliser was offside.

It is hoped that Oyirwoth will be able to face Partick Thistle on Tuesday evening, of whom the Pars boss said: "He's got concussion.

"He fainted after the game and he was nauseous as well.

"So, obviously, the (concussion) protocol's kicking in, so he won't be available for the weekend, which is obviously a blow for us.

"But, we've made our views clear to the refereeing association and the SFA about the challenge in itself, and we're just waiting to hear back now.

Neil Lennon has said the Pars have "sent submissions" to the SFA's refereeing department following the game. (Image: Craig Brown.)

"Look, I can't sort of put myself in the shoes of the opposition player, but the whistle had gone, and there was no need for the challenge, and it's bad. When I saw it again, it's a bad one.

"I didn't actually see it at the time, but a lot of my staff did, and they were quite irate about it.

“We've sent submissions in and we've told Ayr United what our point is, or where we lie with it, and we'll see what the outcome of it is."

Lennon, who said he'd assess how Oyirwoth is on Sunday, ahead of Thistle's visit to KDM Group East End Park, also revealed the governing body had agreed that Ayr's equaliser should've been chalked off.

"Their goal was offside," he continued.

"It's incredible that's not been seen or that's been missed.

"Anyway, they (the SFA refereeing department) think it was offside - and we do as well.

"We just have to take that one and move on.

"It's a big error. It cost us two points.

"We can look at referees and that, but the referee wasn't the reason why we dropped points. We missed easy chances, and that’s why we missed the win.

"But I'm so pleased with the way we're playing at the minute.

"The mentality of the team and the quality of the team. I'd rather talk about that really than refereeing decisions."
