Celtic Supporters Given Important Wednesday Parkhead Update

Supporters driving to Parkhead tonight are being urged to set off earlier than usual, with Duke Street shut near the Forge from today for the next fortnight.

Celtic’s Supporter Liaison Officer gave fans the heads-up on X on Monday. The road, which runs into Parkhead Cross a few minutes’ walk from the ground, is closed at the railway bridge behind the Forge, and the SLO expects the knock-on effect to be felt on the routes around it.

“Duke St will be closed for two weeks from Wednesday at the railway bridge behind the Forge. Allow additional time for your journey to Celtic Park during this period as this will increase congestion on alternative routes.”

There is more disruption after dark as well. Glasgow City Council is closing Duke Street overnight between Todd Street and Shettleston Road while Scottish Power upgrades its cable network, the Glasgow Times reported last week.

Those closures normally start at 10pm and run until 6am, but on Celtic home nights, tonight and next Thursday’s Europa League visit of Beşiktaş, they will not begin until midnight. Anyone caught up in them will be sent on a signed diversion via Millerston Street, Gallowgate, Biggar Street and Shettleston Road.

Kilmarnock are also due at Parkhead on Sunday 8 November, inside the two-week window, and the SLO has not given a firm reopening date. Anyone planning to drive to those games is best keeping an eye on the club’s updates nearer the time.

Supporters who are not going tonight can watch in the UK and Ireland with a Celtic Player Match Pass, with all the details in our Celtic v Dundee United guide.

A big night at Parkhead

Martin O’Neill’s side go into tonight four points clear at the top after coming from behind to win 2-1 at Easter Road on Sunday, with Camilo Durán getting the winner just before half-time.

Dundee United will not make it easy. Jim Goodwin’s men are fourth and unbeaten in five league games, and they won two of last season’s three league meetings with Celtic. With Alistair Johnston out again and Celtic having lost two of their last three games at Parkhead, there is little room for another off night.

Rangers kick off at Tynecastle 15 minutes after Celtic. Three points would keep O’Neill’s side at least four clear whatever happens in Edinburgh, and any slip from Derek McInnes’ team would open the gap further before Sunday’s trip to Falkirk.
