Manchester United have their backs against the wall ahead of Sunday's Premier League clash with AFC Bournemouth. The Reds' 4-1 thumping at Champions League debutants Como on Wednesday night has left Michael Carrick scrambling to keep hold of his job. The United head coach remains in charge for the Bournemouth game, but a bad result could bring in an end to his tenure.

Changes are expected from the defeat in Italy, but the options available to Carrick are limited. There are a number of players in the United team who have been either ruled out of this weekend's action, or are doubts for the match.

With this in mind, MEN Sport has taken a look at the latest injury news ahead of the weekend.

Benjamin Sesko

Injury: Shin

Carrick had said he would provide an update on Sesko's fitness at the end of the week. However, after starting his press conference with a passionate speech, we did not hear that update.

Potential return date: Unknown

Kobbie Mainoo

Injury: Muscular

Mainoo could be back next weekend after Carrick confirmed on Tuesday he would be out for 10 days.

Potential return date: October 31 vs Chelsea

Marcus Rashford

Injury: Hip

Rashford missed the trip to Como after starting on the bench against Leeds last weekend. Carrick did not provide a further update on Rashford so the forward could be back this weekend.

Potential return date: October 25 vs Bournemouth

Luke Shaw

Injury: Unknown

The full-back is expected to be out longer than Mainoo, which suggests he will be missing until November.

Potential return date: November 3 vs AS Roma

Ayden Heaven

Injury: Illness

Heaven missed the last two games due to illness. Carrick confirmed to MUTV that Heaven is back with the group after overcoming illness.

Potential return date: October 25 vs Bournemouth

Lisandro Martinez

Injury: Unknown

The centre-back was replaced at half-time against Leeds and did not travel to Como in midweek. Carrick said in midweek that Martinez may be fit in time for the weekend.

Potential return date: October 25 vs Bournemouth

Patrick Dorgu

Injury: Thigh

Dorgu remains sidelined for this weekend's action after picking up a thigh injury in the most recent international break.

Potential return date: November

Manuel Ugarte

Injury: Knee

Ugarte remains out for an extended period after suffering a serious injury during the World Cup. He will not be back until next year.
