Rangers fans are not expected to respond too well to the club’s official announcement, which is expected to be made on Friday morning.

In recent days, there have been leaks about the club’s fourth kit for the current season, and the supporters have not liked the design at all.

A number of Rangers fans joined the debate on TalkingPoints, and it is pretty much unanimous that the new jersey is not something that looks good.

Rangers set to announce the kit release at 8am on Friday

The club took to X to confirm that there is an announcement expected on Friday morning. It’s understood that this will be the official launch of the fourth kit.

The kit is inspired by the 1995/96 away kit, with a slight tweak in terms of the colour. Instead of being red and white, it will be cyan and black, with a shield crest and a number on the back.

Jean Kimber, a passionate Rangers fan and a regular TalkingPoints user, kept his response simple and straight to the point. “It’s absolutely horrific,” he wrote, echoing the sentiments of most fans who took a look at the leaked images.

Dan Owen liked the jersey from the 90s, which had Adidas designing the kit and McEwan’s Lager as the front-of-shirt sponsor. However, the one that is set to be released is not something that he is a fan of.

He went on record to compare the jersey to Wycombe Wanderers, a side that plays in the third tier of English football. There are indeed similarities between the two kits, with the main difference being that their second colour is more of a dark blue, while the Rangers one represents black.

I like the red and white! The blue one is just Wycombe Wanderers

Steven Marlin believes that launching this jersey in the middle of the season is another way for the sponsors to make money off their fans. In his view, as the Light Blues are not in Europe, it makes little sense to release such a jersey.

He wants the club to show more respect towards the fans and not be on board with what the sponsors want, as it’s just a financial incentive for them. He wants the supporters to be treated better and wants improvements elsewhere rather than the launch of a new kit.

Freddie Dorman also does not appear to be a fan of the jersey, and has labelled it as “vile”.

The jersey will be launched for seniors as well as for the kids, but there will be different sponsors for both kits. Unibet will be the main sponsor for the adults, while the one for the juniors will be BOXT.
