McDaniels is coming off a career-best season, in which he averaged 14.8 points while shooting 51.5% from the field and 41.2% from 3-point range. He added 4.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.0 blocks while appearing in 73 games. He was one of only eight players to average at least a block and steal per game last season.
The No. 28 pick in the 2020 Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers, McDaniels was dealt to the Thunder on draft night and then to the Timberwolves two days later. He has spent his entire career in Minnesota as a core piece alongside guard Anthony Edwards, who was the No. 1 overall pick in that same draft.
