Sean McVay praises young DB who has stepped up for Rams

One of the surprises for the Los Angeles Rams this season has been the emergence of defensive back Josh Wallace. Due to injuries to Jaylen Watson and Trent McDuffie, Wallace has been pressed into service and has played well at the cornerback position.

He has been on the bad end of close, controversial calls, but his overall work led to Wallace playing every snap last Sunday in the team's 18-16 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Head coach Sean McVay spoke about his burgeoning defender, praising his overall toughness.

“I think he's done really well," said McVay. "I think he's played really good quality football. I think he's tackled well. I think he's been sticky in coverage, made a bunch of plays. I think he's been on the unfortunate end of some things. I've told you guys before, I wouldn't really change the way that I'm coaching him on some of this stuff. He is a steady, resilient, mentally and physically tough guy. We love Josh Wallace. I've been proud of Josh.”

With McDuffie still hampered by a groin injury, Wallace could have another full day when the Rams take on the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday.

Wallace has 19 total tackles, one tackle for a loss and one interception this season.
