Jarvis Landry seems ready to start talking about the Hall of Fame for Travis Hunter, even though the Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback and receiver is only in his second NFL season.
The five-time Pro Bowler brought it up on “4th and South,” the podcast he hosts with fellow LSU alumnus Leonard Fournette.
His comments came after Hunter caught a touchdown pass and intercepted C.J. Stroud in a 34-31 loss to the Houston Texans at Wembley Stadium in London on Sunday.
“Can we talk about Travis Hunter, bro? Which I think he gonna be a defensive Hall of Famer,” Landry said in a clip of the show.
Hunter won the Heisman Trophy in 2024 and went No. 2 overall to the Jaguars in the 2025 NFL Draft. Jacksonville had used him almost exclusively at cornerback this season. On Sunday, he finished with four catches for 59 yards, including a 26-yard catch in the third quarter on which he made three defenders miss.
He became just the fifth player in the Super Bowl era, playoffs included, to score a touchdown and intercept a pass in the same game.
Landry went a step further. “And some might say, what he do on the offensive side of the ball, it might have to open the books up to maybe seeing a two-way guy get into the Hall of Fame, bro. Like he that electric.”
On defense, Hunter’s two interceptions through Week 6 are tied for seventh in the NFL. Pro Football Network’s NFL CB Impact Grade has him at 86.1 for the season through Week 6, 10th of 102 graded cornerbacks.
Landry didn’t ignore the rough moments, either. “Travis Hunter gave up a touchdown. What DB doesn’t? Patrick Peterson gave up touchdowns. Deion Sanders gave up touchdowns. But how do you respond?”
Early in the game, Nico Collins got past Hunter for a 42-yard catch to the Jacksonville 9, which set up Foster Moreau’s 6-yard touchdown and a 7-0 Texans lead. Late in the first half, Hunter was flagged for pass interference on Collins. That gave Houston first-and-goal at the 1, and Moreau scored again to put the Texans up 17-14.
Landry’s answer to his own question came next. “I watched the guy still respond late in the game when his team needed it. He caught an interception, then the next drive he scored a touchdown after getting two more first downs.”
The plays actually happened in the opposite order. Hunter’s 7-yard touchdown catch from Trevor Lawrence came first and cut Houston’s lead to 31-28 with 11:26 left. On the Texans’ next possession, he picked off Stroud in the end zone to end a 12-play drive with 3:53 remaining.
The Jaguars’ drive after the interception ended in Cam Little’s 60-yard field goal, which tied the game at 31 with 1:55 left. Ka’imi Fairbairn then won it for Houston with a 49-yarder as time expired.
Landry saved one more verdict for last. “Forget Trevor Lawrence, Travis Hunter is the best player on their team.”
Lawrence put up big numbers of his own at Wembley. He went 24 of 41 for 306 yards with four touchdown passes, though he also threw an interception in the end zone in the second quarter.
The loss left the Jaguars at 4-2, first in the AFC South. They host the Indianapolis Colts at EverBank Stadium on November 1.
