WATCH: Jonah Coleman Leads Broncos to Victory With Late TD

Denver Broncos rookie running back Jonah Coleman reeled in a career-high 63 receiving yards and scored a late fourth-quarter go-ahead 5-yard rushing touchdown to secure a 28-24 Week 8 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Coleman set up his second career NFL rushing touchdown with a 51-yard reception off a checkdown from Bo Nix that put the ball at the Chiefs' 5-yard line with 2:21 to go in the fourth quarter Sunday. The 2026 fourth-round draft pick didn't wait long to capitalize on his long reception, as he did numerous times in the past two years with the Washington Huskies.

The 5-foot-8, 220-pound bruiser took a handoff out of the shotgun, waited patiently for a hole on the left side of the Broncos' offensive line to open up before he put his foot in the ground and cut upfield to find the end zone and put Denver ahead by four with just under two minutes left.

Coleman played a central role in all five Broncos scoring drives against the Chiefs, a sign that his role with the AFC West organization is only expected to grow as the first-year running back continues to establish himself and impact the team on a consistent basis from a production standpoint.

"He's kind of third in the read as we run deep posts, and he got it right away because Bo recognized," head coach Sean Payton said after the game of Coleman's long reception on the final drive. "And when he caught it, the defense was just--it was like last week's Bo scramble. Everyone was covering someone; no one had Jonah. There's nothing like a one-play, two-minute drive that takes you to the 2 (yard line)."

Coleman suffered a high ankle sprain in Denver's Week 2 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars after recording his first rushing TD midway through the fourth quarter—a 3-yard run that ended up proving the difference in the 20-13 win for the Broncos—which forced the former UW starter and Stockton, California native to miss the following four games before he returned in Week 7 on the road against the Arizona Cardinals.

In his latest outing, Coleman set a new career-best with 11 carries, one more than his prior high set against the Jags, and four receptions for 63 yards in the win over Kansas City, the latter of which led the team in receiving yards while his catch total matched veteran wide receiver Courtland Sutton.
