Former Denver Broncos cornerback and Super Bowl 50 champion Aqib Talib provided a full-throated defense of quarterback Bo Nix after the QB was ripped to shreds by Thursday Night Football analyst Ryan Fitzpatrick after the Week 6 win over the Seattle Seahawks.
Fitzpatrick called Nix's 107-yard passing performance "disrespectful to the quarterback position" in viral comments made immediately after the game, something that Talib immediately seized on in his defense of Nix.
"We talking about a guy — this is a guy who played for nine different teams in 17 years, cuz ain't nobody want his ass," Talib said on the "Gridiron" podcast. "We talking about a guy who for a team more than two years once — that's Buffalo and his record as a starter in Buffalo was 19-35. That's (expletive) suck. We talking about a guy who played 17 years, 147 starts, and never sniffed a playoff game! He never touched the playoffs ever! That's disrespectful to the quarterback position."
Talib has been vocally protective of Denver, especially this season, as he predicted a move for an offensive weapon, which turned out to be a trade for wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, and provided a defense of the controversial pass interference penalty committed by the Los Angeles Rams at the end of the Week 3 victory.
Fitzpatrick made a mock response to Talib's fiery comments and posted it on Twitter/X, in the form of a spoffed FaceTime call. You can see Fitz's video below:
It's safe to say that Fitzpatrick and Talib may not be hanging out anytime soon. What is not up for debate is the play of Nix, who is trying to once again get off the ground from a rocky start to the season.
After a very difficult first third of the season, the Broncos are hopefully going into some more workable games in the next few weeks, starting with the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, Oct. 25. It will be tough, though, as the Cardinals are coming off a marquee win against the Los Angeles Rams on the road.
