Tennessee Titans vs Cleveland Browns: 6 things to know about Week 7

The Tennessee Titans will look to build on their first victory of the 2026 NFL season when they return home to face the Cleveland Browns in Week 7.

Tennessee improved to 1-5 after overcoming a 13-point halftime deficit to defeat the Indianapolis Colts 26-20. Meanwhile, Cleveland improved to 4-2 following a 13-10 comeback victory over the Baltimore Ravens.

Both teams enter Sunday's matchup with momentum after securing important divisional victories. Here are six intriguing things to know about the Titans' upcoming showdown with the Browns.

1. Both teams are coming off comeback victories

The Titans and Browns enter Week 7 following impressive comeback victories against division rivals. Tennessee trailed Indianapolis 13-0 at halftime before scoring 26 second-half points to secure its first victory under head coach Robert Saleh.

Cleveland also overcame a 10-0 deficit against Baltimore, eventually winning on K Andre Szmyt's 37-yard field goal as time expired. Both teams demonstrated resilience in Week 6, setting up an intriguing matchup between opponents looking to build on their recent success.

2. The Browns are tied for first place in the AFC North

Despite finishing 5-12 last season and with no real expectations heading into this season, Cleveland has emerged as an early contender in the AFC North. The Browns enter Week 7 at 4-2, tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens (Cincinnati Bengals are 3-2) atop the division standings.

The Browns' victory over the Ravens was important because it prevented the Ravens from taking sole possession of first place in the division. The Titans will face a motivated opponent looking to remain atop their division race.

3. The Titans won last season's matchup in Cleveland

Tennessee has recent success to draw from after defeating Cleveland 31-29 on the road in Week 14 last season. Running back Tony Pollard delivered one of the best games of his career, rushing for a career-high 161 yards, along with two rushing touchdowns.

After struggling to run the football for the majority of this season, the Titans will hope to replicate that success when the Browns visit Nashville this weeked.

4. Cleveland won its last game in Nashville

Although Tennessee won the most recent meeting, Cleveland won in its last visit to Nissan Stadium. The Browns defeated the Titans 41-35 on Dec. 6, 2020, jumping out to a 38-7 halftime lead before surviving a second-half comeback.

The 76 combined points in that contest will likely be a stark contrast to what will transpire on Sunday. The current over/under is set at 38.5 points for their final regular-season matchup in the current Nissan Stadium this Sunday.

5. No Cam Ward vs. Shedeur Sanders this time

Tennessee QB Cam Ward and Cleveland QB Shedeur Sanders faced each other last December, with Ward helping the Titans secure the victory. This season, Ward continues to develop as Tennessee's starting quarterback, while Sanders is a backup behind starter Deshaun Watson in Cleveland.

Although a rematch between the two young quarterbacks from the 2025 NFL Draft isn't in the cards, their connection adds another interesting element to the matchup.

6. Special teams could play a major role again

Both of these teams benefited from significant special teams contributions during their Week 6 victories. Tennessee's RB Julius Chestnut blocked a punt against Indianapolis, allowing DE Femi Oladejo to return the ball 14 yards for a go-ahead touchdown.

The play helped spark the Titans' comeback and marked their first blocked punt returned for a touchdown since 2011. Titans K Joey Slye went 4-for-4 on field goals, and All-Pro returner Chimere Dike returned a punt 58 yards to set up the Titans' first touchdown of that game.

Meanwhile, Cleveland relied on Szmyt's game-winning field goal against Baltimore to secure its fourth victory. With both teams coming off close games, another impactful special teams play(s) could help determine Sunday's outcome.
