Cameron Carter Vickers tipped for shock Celtic transfer exit - and he may already have given his answer

Cameron Carter-Vickers has been tipped for a shock Celtic exit - with a return to England floated.

The long-serving Hoops defender is in his sixth season at Parkhead after first arriving from Tottenham Hotspur on loan in 2021. CCV has been a colossal figure for the Scottish champions over the years, lifting an astonishing 10 major honours - including a Treble.

The 28-year-old - who recently faced the wrath of boss Martin O'Neill for questioning Celtic's tactics - insisted in August that he was happy in Glasgow and wasn't itching for a fresh challenge. But ex-USA international Brek Shea reckons the American centre-back could still play at a higher level - along with fellow compatriot and World Cup star Auston Trusty.

He told Jackpot City Casino : "I'm a fan of Auston Trusty and Cameron Carter-Vickers and I want all our players playing at big clubs and having success. I mean those guys they’ve featured almost every game, right? And I want them to be playing and if they're playing every day, that helps us at the end of the day.

"And I know they could still make another move, hopefully to England. I mean Cameron Carter-Vickers came through Tottenham, and he is definitely comfortable over there. And then Trusty, he's a very athletic player and has done well with the national team. So I don't see why not.

"Obviously no disrespect to the Scottish league, but there's only a few teams that they have to really worry about every year. So there's some pros and cons to that for every learning ability for players. I mean, you can feel the confidence, you can work on things, but also for them, I know as athletes you want to be tested. So hopefully they can get a move to a bigger club at some point. Not that Celtic isn't."

Carter-Vickers has been plagued by injuries in recent years and a devastating Achilles tear ruled him out of the summer's World Cup. But after making his long-awaited return this season, the man mountain - under contract until 2029 - made it clear he was happy at Celtic.

He said: "I'm very happy here. To be honest, being out for so long last year did kind of make me miss it and probably gave me a little bit more extra motivation for coming into this season. So, yes, I'm happy and just looking forward to this season really."
