Packers elevate 2 players from practice squad for Week 6 vs. Cowboys

The Packers elevated a pair of players from the practice squad before facing the Cowboys in Week 6.

The Green Bay Packers elevated edge rusher Arron Mosby and wide receiver Coleman Owen from the practice squad to the gameday roster for Week 6 of the 2026 season. Both Mosby and Owen will be available for Matt LaFleur's team against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night.

Neither elevation helps solve the apparent injury situations along the defensive line or at cornerback, but as is the case with most elevations from the practice squad, both are likely special teams related. Mosby was a core special teamer for the Packers in 2024 and 2025, and Owen provides an additional option at both kick and punt returner with Skyy Moore now on injured reserve.

Mosby gives the Packers fifth available edge rusher, potentially allowing a player like Lukas Van Ness to play more snaps on the interior -- where the defense is dealing with injuries to Javon Hargrave, Warren Brinson and Jonathan Ford, who are all now on injured reserve. Hargrave and Ford were placed on injured reserve on Saturday, and the Packers currently have only four active defensive linemen: Devonte Wyatt, Karl Brooks, Chris McClellan and Anthony Campbell. It could get shaky very fast up front against the Cowboys if the Packers suffer another injury.

Owen is up to the gameday roster despite signing in Green Bay only 17 days ago. He is a slot receiver, and the Packers are lacking in depth there with Moore and Jayden Reed on injured reserve. More than likely, Owen will be in the running to return punts and kicks, two roles he's handled at the NFL level previously (played in two games with the Indianapolis Colts in 2025, returning one punt and five kickoffs).

The Packers did not elevate cornerback Domani Jackson or Elijah Culp, suggesting the team thinks Brandon Cisse (questionable, hip) will play Sunday against the Cowboys. The team is still shorthanded at the position without backup Benjamin St-Juste, who is out with a hamstring injury.

This is the first time the Packers have used a practice squad elevation since Week 1. Before the regular season opener, the Packers elevated Bo Melton and Kristian Welch, who are now both on the 53-man roster.

Teams can elevate up to two players from the practice squad each week. Players can be elevated three times, so Mosby and Owen are both down to two elevations remaining for the 2026 season.

Practice squad elevations by week

  • Week 1: WR Bo Melton, LB Kristian Welch

  • Week 6: EDGE Arron Mosby, WR Coleman Owen
