Broncos injuries: WR Jaylen Waddle, DL Zach Allen injured vs. Cardinals

The Denver Broncos secured their first two-score win of the season on Sunday with a 30-16 victory over the Arizona Cardinals, but the win did come at a cost.

Broncos wide receiver Jaylen Waddle (chest) and defensive lineman Zach Allen (appeared to be hamstring) both went down with injuries in the fourth quarter. Waddle suffered his injury after falling on his own fumble on an end-around. After the game, coach Sean Payton called it a "dumb reverse call." Payton apologized for the "awful" call in his post-game press conference.

Waddle initially stayed down on the field before walking to the sideline and then into the locker room. He was previously limited in two days of practice last week with a chest injury. Denver announced Waddle as questionable to return, but he did not return to Sunday's game after totaling four catches for 48 yards prior to the injury.

Allen also went down in the fourth quarter and appeared to be favoring his right hamstring. After a visit to the team's blue medical tent, Allen was spotted standing on the sideline without his helmet for the end of the game. Allen went to the podium for a post-game press conference after the win and said, "Yeah, I'll be fine. Yeah, I'll be good," when asked about his injury.

Elsewhere on the injury front, cornerback Pat Surtain (ankle) missed his third straight game on Sunday and safety Talanoa Hufanga (ankle) sat out his second consecutive game. After the win, Surtain said, "Not really," when asked by the Denver Gazette's Chris Tomasson if he was close to playing in Arizona. When asked if he'll play against the Chiefs on Sunday, Surtain said, "Possibly." Denver's first injury report of the week will come out on Wednesday.
