U.S. Senator Ruben Gallego said he’s an AEW guy in response to a Kane-related social media post.
WWE Hall of Famer Kane (Glenn Jacobs) recently finished his eight-year run as mayor of Knox County, Tennessee. His second consecutive term ended on September 1. However, reports indicated that he’s “viewed as a top candidate” for the state’s next Senator.
Marsha Blackburn, the current U.S. Senator for Tennessee, won the state’s gubernatorial election on November 3, 2026. Reports indicate that she will appoint her successor after she’s sworn in as governor in January 2027. Kane is viewed as the favorite, and if appointed, he’d serve until a special election in 2028.
After the report came out, a fan on X/Twitter posted a clip of Rey Mysterio defeating Kane at WWE Cyber Sunday 2008 with the caption, “ruben gallego when he sees glenn jacobs on the senate floor.”
Gallego responded to the post and pledged his loyalty to All Elite Wrestling. “I am more of an @AEW man,” he wrote.
Kane last competed in the 2021 men’s Royal Rumble match. With potential for his Senate appointment, the WWE Hall of Famer recently reunited with U.S. Education Secretary Linda McMahon at an event focused on higher education held at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.
