Why FSU will beat Clemson

If the Florida State Seminoles want any shot at making a bowl game, they need to string together some wins, and fast. They currently sit at 3-4 after a two-game losing streak, and on Saturday night, they host the Clemson Tigers.

They aren't a juggernaut at 4-3, but Clemson certainly has enough talent to come into Doak Campbell Stadium and get a win, which would be their third consecutive victory over FSU. Conversely, the Seminoles can get back to their winning ways just as easily, which makes this an intriguing matchup.

It will likely be a battle for four quarters, but here are five reasons why Florida State will get their fourth win of the season versus Clemson.

Clemson has trouble scoring

The Tigers are only putting up 21.4 points per game this season. They have some talent offensively, but their lack of a consistent passing attack hinders them quite a bit, especially when they get in third-and-long situations. If FSU can do that a lot in this game, Clemson won't score a lot.

Florida State's defense will be good on third down

This is an area where Clemson's offense has struggled mightily. They're only converting 31.68% of their third-down attempts. Now, FSU is allowing 42.86% defensively, which isn't great. However, they'll do enough on Saturday night to get some key stops.

Ashton Daniels will have a big game

Ever since Florida State played the Alabama Crimson Tide, Daniels has looked a lot more confident than he did earlier in the season, which he proved by performing very well in a double overtime loss to the Miami Hurricanes two weeks ago. It will be challenging against a good Clemson defense, but Miami has a better unit, and he carved them up for just under 300 yards passing and five total touchdowns. I think he has another big game.

Quintrevion Wisner will provide balance offensively for FSU

Wisner is the man at running back with Ousmane Kromah out for the season. He hasn't had a huge rushing performance yet, but he's racked up over 100 all-purpose yards in two of the last three games. As RB1, Wisner will get more opportunities against Clemson, and he'll have his best rushing performance, which will balance out Florida State's offensive attack.

FSU can't afford a third straight loss

If Florida State loses to Clemson, they will drop to 3-5, and it will put them in a situation where they'll need three wins in their final four games to be eligible for a bowl. With two straight road games in the ACC up next and the Florida Gators to end the year, that will be a tall task. They must treat this as a must-win.
