Week 9 was another interesting week in the Big 12. Colorado finally got its first conference win. BYU escaped with a 27-20 win over Arizona State, while Arizona put up a valiant fight against Texas Tech.

But Week 10 offers several more compelling games, headlined by BYU taking on Utah. Both are in the top 10 in the College Football Playoff rankings. The Utes are looking to stay undefeated while the Cougars are looking to get back in the picture for the Big 12 Championship.

Big 12 Game of the Week

This is the first matchup between two top-10 Big 12 teams this season. The playoff implications are massive, as a loss could send the Cougars out of the mix entirely, especially if it is a blowout. Meanwhile, Utah is looking to cement itself as the top team in the conference, and a win would do it. However, a loss could jeopardize their spot in the Big 12 Championship game and their playoff chances.

Big 12 Upset to Watch

Texas Tech's sole loss of the season was against Cincinnati. The Bearcats won by dominating on the ground, totaling 255 rushing yards, including 173 yards from running back Cole Tabb. With quarterback Michael Hawkins Jr. and running back Cam Cook, the Mountaineers can dominate on the ground and put up even more rushing yards than Cincinnati did. If that happens, the Red Raiders could have their second conference loss of the season.

Other Big 12 action

Big 12 action starts on Friday with TCU taking on Arizona. Then on Saturday, Iowa State will face off against Baylor. With a win, the Bears would become bowl-eligible after failing to make a bowl game last year. Oklahoma State is also seeking a bowl bid with a win over Kansas State, which most likely will not have starting quarterback Avery Johnson back for the rest of the season.

Cincinnati will also look to get its sixth win of the season when it takes on Houston. It would be the second time the Bearcats have become bowl-eligible since Scott Satterfield took over as head coach in 2023. UCF will also take on Kansas, with the Jayhawks considered slight favorites. No Big 12 teams have a bye.
